MacBeth Concert Series Announces 2021 Season!

Knowing how deeply all of us missed music on Chebeague during the pandemic summer of 2020, we wrote you in November to say that the MacBeth Concert Series was determined to do what we could to bring music back for the 2021 season.  We are delighted, therefore, to let you know that we have confirmed plans for an inspirational season of classical and jazz music for the coming summer.  Because of the uncertainties associated with Covid-19, it will be an abbreviated season with three outdoor concerts and one streamed program.  The outdoor concerts will be held in August and September, with the streamed program scheduled for late July.

Halcyon String Quartet.  Wednesday, July 28, 7:00 p.m. This young, talented and creative group were electrifying during their first Chebeague appearance in 2019.  In cooperation with the Waldo Theater in Waldoboro, Maine, we will stream a concert that they performed in January.

Novel Jazz Septet.  Sunday, August 15, 2:00 p.m., location TBD.  These long-time Chebeague favorites will entertain us with some familiar Ōbeyond categoryĶ tunes by Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington, plus some new ones they have added during their pandemic time-off.

Tyler Putnam and Sarah Nordin, Sunday, August 22, 1:00 p.m., Sheila PutnamÕs yard.  Opera! Show tunes! Romance! Glamour! Drama! Gaiety! Tenderness!  Playfulness!   Tyler! Sarah!  All of this and so much more!

Seaside Brass Quintet.  September date and time TBD.  Another Chebeague favorite, Seaside Brass has been a part of the summer music series almost since its beginning, presenting programs of classical, jazz, Broadway and popular tunes. Rossini juxtaposed with Lennon and McCartney juxtaposed with Irving Berlin.  You get this versatile picture!

We canÕt wait for the season to begin—and bet you canÕt either.

(We truly regret noting that three of our regular and popular artists—Sebago Long Lake Festival, Paul English and Diane Walsh—will not be able to join us this year, due to Covid-19 precautions and other factors.  Do not despair.  They will be back next year.)
